Solutions to various traffic & pedestrian concerns around the city need to be uniformly applied to S. Halcyon betw Pike & Fair Oaks with an eye to the future. Numerous car collisions at the Pike can be avoided by a.) reducing speed to 35 mph, b.) installing warning lights and a 3-way stop at the Pike/S. Halcyon intersection, and furthermore, c.) adding crosswalks with flashing beacons at the original Willow Ln. crosswalk and Sandalwood, d.) increase size of Harloe school zone, e.) installing ADA compliant sidewalks and ramps from the southern city limit to a refurbished crosswalk at Willow Ln.
Influencing motorist behavior at the city limit will increase public safety and livability in the surrounding neighborhoods. Examples of improvements needed can be found at the top of Brisco hill, Los Berros/Valley Rd. and the 1000 blk E. Grand.

The Village is so unique, and I am excited about the direction the Village is moving: more variety of businesses, primarily restaurants and cafes. I would love to see another coffee shop and a yogurt shop to round out the experience and fewer non-entertainment-/tourism-related businesses (e.g., real estate offices aren't the hottest tourist attraction, no offense to those business owners).
As to my main reason for writing, I would love to see a median in the center of Branch Street in the Village. Preferably it would include grass, trees, benches, sidewalk, and several areas for pedestrian crossing. Alternatively, a simple median with trees. An official "Village" sign and fountain could welcome visitors. Additional drought-tolerant trees and various plants along the median and existing sidewalks would further enhance it.
I think this would add to the quaintness of the Village, increase its growing appeal, signal vehicle traffic to slow down, and encourage more pedestrian traffic.

The length of time given a pedestrian to walk across the street at any given intersection in AG is too short. The worst areas are those on Grand leading into the Village. Drivers force pedestrians to move out of their way when the lights change. However, if you time it, a pedestrian has approximately 5 seconds to cross an intersection...not enough time unless you are flat out running. Please change the timing so it is safer for those of us who enjoy walking through the neighborhoods and corridors of AG.

Based on the abundant power infrastructure downtown and the lack of vehicle charging infrastructure in South County, I would like to propose several level 2 EV charge stations be installed in downtown Arroyo Grande. These would promote a green image for AG and provide needed charging locations for EV and PHEV vehicles. EV drivers using the stations would boost business to the local merchants. Cost is low as there are state and federal grants and rebates. Parking stalls would need to be marked as EV charging only.

There is limited sight distance between the Gularte Road intersection and the hill to the east on Corbett Canyon Road. People driving westbound on Corbett Canyon come sailing over the rise and do not expect to see someone turning onto the road so they have to slam on the brakes. It is a matter of time until there is a serious accident at that intersection.
I would like to see the speed limit lowered to 45 mph on Corbett Canyon at the city limits, and some "bumps" (I believe they are called dagmars?) installed on the road to alert drivers to slow down.
