[ARCHIVED] Appointment of Legislative & Information Services Director/City Clerk

ARROYO GRANDE, CALIFORNIA – The City of Arroyo Grande is pleased to announce the appointment of Jessica Matson as its new Legislative & Information Services Director/City Clerk.   

Ms. Matson recently served as the City’s Deputy City Clerk for three years and has worked in local government for over ten years, including her role as Public Information Director and Board Clerk at the Nipomo Community Services District.  In addition, Ms. Matson has over 15 years of marketing and public outreach as well as program management experience. 

Ms. Matson holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California, is a California Professional Municipal Clerk, and holds a Certified Municipal Clerk designation from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks.

“We are extremely pleased to appoint Ms. Matson as our new Legislative & Information Services Director/City Clerk,” said City Manager, Whitney McDonald. “Ms. Matson has been an invaluable and dedicated member of our team for the past three years, where she trained under former City Clerk Kelly Wetmore, who recently retired after 21 years with the City. We know that Ms. Matson’s skills and background in public outreach, marketing, information services, and Municipal Clerk training will ensure ongoing outstanding service to our community.” 

Ms. Matson assumed the role with the City on February 16, 2021.
