[ARCHIVED] City Protecting Public Health and Safety - Facilities Temporarily Closed

ARROYO GRANDE, CALIFORNIA – In order to further reduce the risk of community spread of COVID-19, the City of Arroyo Grande is announcing temporary and precautionary changes to public access to some City facilities and operations. Although facilities will be temporarily closed to walk-in services, the City will continue to provide all essential services and will conduct most non-essential business by phone, email and online services that limit person-to-person contact.

“In an effort to protect everyone in our community, we are doing our part to slow the spread of COVID-19. City offices are shifting from walk-in customer service to conducting business by phone and email. As a result, City Hall and other City facilities will be closed to walk-in customers, but we will use available technology to answer questions, provide information and conduct other City business,” said City Manager, Jim Bergman. 

The following changes are effective immediately until further notice to ensure public health and safety. 

The following City offices are closed and operations changed, but service will be available using the following information: 

•    City Hall, 300 E Branch Street, (805) 473-5400 or 

  • Administrative Services 
  • City Clerk   
  • City Administration  
  • Community Development

•    Public Works Department and Corporation Yard, 1375 Ash Street, (805) 473-5460

•    Recreation Services Department, 1221 Ash Street, (805) 473-5474 or  

  • All Recreation facilities, classes and programs are cancelled until further notice.
  • The Children’s Services BBQ Fundraiser originally scheduled for March 20, 2020 has been rescheduled for July 17, 2020.

•    Police Department, 200 N Halcyon, (805) 473-5100

  •  Police Records will continue to be available for public records release, property release and 290 registrations. Appointments can be made at the above listed number. 
  •  Until further notice, officers will handle non-emergency calls for service or calls that do not require an officer to respond in person by phone. 
  •  There have been no changes to our staffing and officers will continue to be deployed to respond to emergency calls for service.
  •  If members of the public require emergency assistance, they are to dial 9-1-1.

•    Five Cities Fire Authority Headquarters (Station 1), 140 Traffic Way, (805) 473-5490: 

  • The administrative offices will be closed until further notice. Staff will monitor voicemail messages and return phone calls. If members of the public require emergency assistance, they are to dial 9-1-1. 

•    All public parks and open spaces will remain open. 

•    The following City facilities are closed until further notice: 

  •  Woman’s Club Community Center, 211 Vernon Street, (805) 473-5474
  •  Mark M. Millis Community Center, 1221 Ash Street, (805) 473-5474
  •  Soto Sports Complex, Ash Street, (805) 473-5474 or (805) 473-5460
