City staff has been contacted by multiple merchants in the Village who have expressed interest in organizing, sponsoring, and being the applicant to host the annual “Halloween in the Village” event. At this time staff is working with these interested parties to understand the sentiment of the Village merchants and believe it is very likely that an official application will be submitted for consideration by the City Council at their meeting of October 8, 2019. The City always encourages the community to voice their thoughts and are encouraged to comment and attend the meeting, which will begin at 6 PM. The Agenda for this meeting will be posted on the City’s website at www.arroyogrande.org on October 4, 2019.
The City of Arroyo Grande is pleased to announce the annual Halloween Carnival & Haunted Maze will be held at Elm Street Park on Saturday, October 26th from 4:30-7:30pm. This year’s event will include costume and pumpkin carving contests, food trucks, bounce houses, carnival games and prizes, haunted mazes for two age groups (one is really scary and one is really fun!), cookie decorating, and a DJ!
At this time, please be advised that this year the usual “Halloween in the Village” event will not be occurring due to the lack of an event sponsor. West and East Branch Streets WILL NOT BE CLOSED to accommodate the event previously held on October 31st, Halloween Day. As an alternative, everyone is encouraged to celebrate the holiday at Elm Street Park on October 26th.
City Manager Jim Bergman stated “The City is incredibly thankful and grateful for all the volunteers and dedicated staff who help make the annual Halloween Carnival & Haunted Maze at Elm Street Park a thrilling, fun, and safe event.”
