On June 11, 2019, the City Council approved a contract with CalPortland Construction for the 2019 Concrete Repairs project. Between August and September 2019, CalPortland Construction will be performing sidewalk repairs throughout the City including locations in the Berry Gardens neighborhood, on Rodeo Drive, and in front of Berean Bible Church on North Halcyon Road.
The work will involve the replacement of damaged/uplifted sidewalk adjacent to mature trees, and the removal of some of the trees that are causing the damage. These trees will be replaced with a more appropriate species at a future date. The proposed locations are shown in the table below.
During construction it may be necessary to temporarily partially close sections of the sidewalk or completely close to pedestrian traffic for safety purposes. In addition, the contractor may need to sign some areas as “No Parking” to facilitate the repair work. The Contractor will place informational barricades on the streets advising of specific dates and locations of parking restrictions. Normal work hours will be between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
While this important project will help ensure that the sidewalks are safe and accessible for pedestrians, it may cause temporary inconveniences because of the nature of the work. The City appreciates everyone's patience during this period and will attempt to minimize the inconvenience.
