CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE RECREATION SERVICES DEPARTMENT’S 

ONGOING ADULT CLASSES 

 

The City of Arroyo Grande Recreation Services Department is offering a variety of ongoing classes for adults now through August 2017. For more specific class information, go to www.arroyogrande.org.

CLOGGING with KATHY CINOWALT Born in the Appalachian Mountains, clogging is a lively up-beat dance form that is performed to all types of music. It’s a fun way to stay fit and meet new friends. No partner is required. Classes are held on specified Sundays, beginners from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. and advanced from  3:00 – 4:00 p.m.

TAHITIAN DANCE Learn traditional Tahitian dance! Practice the fundamentals of correct posture, hand movements and the basics of Tahitian Hula. Classes take place from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. on Sundays, beginning June 4th.

YOGA Join this yoga class to work on strength, flexibility, and balance while transitioning through a sequence of yoga poses. After graduating from UCSB, Instructor Lindsay Carter Coates expanded her love of yoga and earned certification to teach, and now teaches Yoga Flow and Seniors Yoga classes. Classes take place Tuesdays and/or Thursdays.

PICKLEBALL CLASSES AND CLINICS Brett Noel is the past trainer and director of Paso Robles Pickleball Club. He is currently ranked as a 4.5 competitive tournament player and is being approved as an International Pickleball Instructor. He is the author of “Coachable Pickleball”. Beginner through Advanced players are invited to come out to the courts to learn and have fun! Clinics begin June 6th and take place on Tuesdays from 2 – 4 p.m.

RECREATIONAL BASKETBALL CLASS Come get a good workout with other basketball enthusiasts. Half-court games played with teams changed each night. Classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:15 – 6:45 p.m., May - November. To register, contact Greg Soto at (805) 481-1066.

TENNIS- INTERMEDIATE and ADVANCED Intermediate and advanced instruction, workout, and drills for adults. Instructor Lenny De Los Santos is a Professional Instructor with USPTA, with a PRO I Certification. Class is held Saturdays, from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m., and is for ages 15 and up.

SENIOR FITNESS This low impact recreational exercise program uses chairs with optional standing exercises to improve joint mobility, muscle tone, bone strength, posture and balance. Each class ends with a relaxation exercise. Class cost is $4 a class, with 4 and 8 class punch cards available. Class meets Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday.

ZUMBA GOLD! With CHARLY SCHAAD Zumba Gold is the perfect blend of easy dance choreography, focus on balance, range of motion and coordination. All ability levels aged 55+ are welcome! Class is held Mondays and Fridays, and punch cards are available.
