ARROYO GRANDE, CALIFORNIA – The City of Arroyo Grande Recreation Services Department has exciting events this Fall 2023 for everyone!
- The Harvest Festival is just around the corner and the Recreation Services Department will show The Super Mario Bros. Movie at the Heritage Square Park Rotary Bandstand (201 Nelson Street) on Friday, September 29th, starting at 7:30 p.m. This is a free family fun event and a movie you are sure to enjoy. Concessions will be available for purchase starting at 6:00 p.m., so bring your low-back chairs and blankets and relax under the stars for a night filled with laughter and fun.
- The Diaper Derby has returned to the Harvest Festival! Children aged 6 months to 36 months are encouraged to come out for this fun, free event. The Recreation Services Department will host the Derby on Saturday, September 30th at 12:30 p.m. at the Rotary Bandstand at Heritage Square Park (201 Nelson Street). Participation ribbons are available for all registrants, and baby shaped trophies are presented to our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place participants in each age group. Come join the fun at the Diaper Derby!
- The spooky season is fast approaching. The Recreation Services Department will host a new Halloween tradition. The 3-Day Halloween Marathon Monster Mash will be held from 6 – 9 p.m. on Friday, October 27th, from 12 – 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 28th, and 12 – 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 29th. In partnership with the Central Coast Party Factory, the Recreation team will have activities to keep Halloween enthusiasts of all ages entertained. Free nightly trick or treating, carnival games, a maze, a rock wall, bounce houses, an obstacle course, carnival swings, water walking balls, costume contests, multiple food vendors, and live music will make this an unforgettably good time for the entire family. All activity access wristbands are available for $25 per day, available for pre-purchase at arroyogrande.org/catalog or can be purchased daily on site.
- Attention young runners! The annual Turkey Trot Fun Run will once again take place at the Arroyo Grande High School Track (495 Valley Road) on Sunday, November 12th. Children aged preschool – 8th grade are invited to participate. The cost to run in the race is $5 and includes a t-shirt and participation ribbon. In each age and gender category, first place participants will receive a frozen turkey, second place will receive a frozen chicken, and third place will receive a frozen game hen. Registration is available online at arroyogrande.org/catalog, or same day registration is available on site. Registration/Check-in begins at 1:00 p.m., and races begin with the preschool aged children at 2:00 p.m. A back up date of Sunday, November 19th, has been reserved in case of rain.
