Storm Recovery Fundraiser - Helping Our Neighbors Weather the Storm

Helping Neighbors

ARROYO GRANDE, CALIFORNIA – In the wake of the January 9, 2023 storm event, the 5Cities Homeless Coalition is facilitating a fundraiser for South County individuals who experienced devastating flooding of their homes.

Mayor Pro Tem Kristen Barneich stated “Some families don’t have a home to return to after last Monday’s storm. After multiple people contacted me about how to help, 5Cities Homeless Coalition and I came up with the South County Flood Relief fund idea. We hope people that are able will donate to help their neighbors get back on their feet.”

The January storms significantly impacted homes in Arroyo Grande, particularly homes on Tally Ho Road. City Manager Whitney McDonald stated “The City is committed to assisting residents in their recovery in the aftermath of the historic storm event on January 9th and, through the generosity of the community and the work of our non-profit partner 5Cities Homeless Coalition, this fundraising effort has the potential to provide immediate relief to our residents.”

“With the recent rainstorms and devastating flooding, individuals and families in South County need our help to overcome their unexpected circumstances. We have launched this fund to help residents throughout South County, from Avila to Nipomo, whose homes have been affected by the flooding. With the help of our community, 5CHC wants to be there to help our South County neighbors get back on their feet. Now, more than ever, we need your help. Your gift, big or small, will have an enormous impact to help those most in need see through the storm and plan for a brighter future,” stated Janna Nichols, 5Cities Homeless Coalition Executive Director.

Individuals interested in participating in the Helping Our Neighbors Weather the Storm fundraiser, can do so by visiting 5Cities Homeless Coalition’s website at https://5chc.org/?form=FUNERMYAJBR.
