[ARCHIVED] Oak Park Drainage Repairs Project to Begin in October

ARROYO GRANDE, CALIFORNIA – On August 23, 2022, the City Council approved a contract with Raminha Construction, Inc. for the Oak Park Drainage Repairs project. From October 2022 to January 2023, Raminha Construction, Inc. will be installing new underground storm drain pipes that will provide a permanent solution for conveying storm water runoff within the Oak Park Boulevard/El Camino Real area. The intent of the project is to eliminate flooding that occurs along El Camino Real during periods of rain fall.

During construction there will be intermittent lane closures and/or shifting of traffic for safety purposes, but it is not anticipated that any roadway will be closed completely to vehicular traffic. Also, it may be necessary to temporarily close sections of the sidewalk partially or completely to pedestrian traffic for safety purposes. There will be signage alerting both vehicles and pedestrians and providing alternative access if required.

The contractor may place informational barricades on the streets advising of specific dates and locations of any on-street parking restrictions. Please note that although the barricade may state certain hours, the actual construction work may occur at any time within that range. Normal work hours will be between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, except for City holidays.

The installation of the new underground storm drain pipes may cause temporary inconveniences because of the nature of the work. The City appreciates your patience during this period and will attempt to minimize the inconveniences. Please contact the Public Works Department at (805) 473-5460 if you have any special needs or concerns that should be taken into consideration during construction. If you have general questions about the project, please call Jill McPeek, Capital Improvement Project Manager, at (805) 473-5444 or jmcpeek@arroyogrande.org. The City will also have an inspector assigned to the project to address concerns.
